This study program focuses on physical activity from the public health perspective, as well as the practical application of physical activity and training in health promotion, preventive and rehabilitative care.

The master's program European Master in Physical Activity and Health (EMA) gives knowledge on and insight into the theoretical, methodological and practical sides of planning, implementation and coordination of physical activity for various age groups with different levels of physical functioning. This program is relevant for a vide array of occupations that work with preventive and health-promoting measures both within sports, healthcare system, and the society at large. 

EMA offers the students an international perspective and experience within their professional specialization, as well as language and culture, which can be a big advantage on the Norwegian labor martket, and which opens the doors to the international labor market. English as the language of instruction would also be a plus for those students wishing to continue their studies at a PhD program. This study program is organized in cooperation with University of Southern Denmark (SDU, Odense, Denmark), University of Rome "Foro Italico", University of Vienna, Austria, and Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, Oslo. Norwegian students that apply for admission through NIH will upon completion of their studies be granted a double degree within physical activity and health, at both University of Rome "Foro Italico" and at NIH.
