Ideas and ways of exhibiting femininity and masculinity, and gender roles and relations, diverge across time and contexts. Discuss some of the ways the transformations in gendered practices and discourses of sport cultures have been understood/theorized in different times and contexts, by departing from the conceptualizing of 'breaking' as 'dance' versus as 'artistic dance', 'aesthetic movement', 'artistic sport', 'alternative sport', or 'lifestyle sport'.
