Development and application of methods to quantitatively assess the stability of a movement by investigating the variability or complexity of the movement patterns.
Prosjektbeskrivelse
Postural control is facilitated by a coordination of all body segments. Particularly in highly dynamic movements (e.g. throwing a ball) not only the segments executing the movement (throwing arm) but also all other segments have to be coordinated to compensate the forces and moments and transmit them to the base of support. In this study we quantify the movement of the whole body and analyse how the coordination of the movement of different segments contributes to postural or temporal stability. In a first step it will be studied how the coordination of segment movements changes when learning to master a balance exercise (standing on a wobble board).
