Dr. Elsa Kristiansen
Elsa Kristiansen has a PhD in Sport Psychology and is currently a researcher at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences. She has investigated the impact of organizational issues and especially the effect of media coverage on elite athletes' perceptions of stress. For the past two years she has been involved in an international project examining the Youth Olympic Games (YOG).
Dr. Anne Marte Pensgaard
Hovedfokuset for Anne Martes forskning er motivasjonelle forhold relatert til mestring av stress i ekstreme situasjoner. Et annet viktig område er betydningen av trener-utøver-forholdet for prestasjoner. Dette er nært knyttet opp til hennes daglige kontakt og veiledning av utøvere på elitenivå. Hun har jobbet mye med mentale prosesser innen ballspill, spesielt fotball og håndball.
Dr. Frank Abrahamsen
Frank tok Doktorgrad i 2007 og er ansatt på NIH og Olympiatoppen. Han har jobbet mye med anvendt idrettspsykologi, blant annet deltatt i tre OL og fire Paralympiske leker. Videre har han jobbet med landslagsutøvere fra de fleste idretter. Interesser er; hvordan skape gode miljøer for prestasjon, utvikling og trivsel på alle nivåer, anvendt og forskningsmessig.
Professor Glyn Roberts
Glyn C. Roberts recently retired from the Professorial Chair of Psychology at the Norwegian University of Sport Science (1998-2012). Previously, he was Professor of Sport Psychology in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Illinois for 25 years (1973-1998).
Glyn Roberts's research has focused on the motivational determinants of achievement and he has been particularly concerned with the motivation of children in the competitive sport experience. Within motivation research, he has focused on how the achievement goals of individuals affects their cognitive, affective, and behavioural responses in sport and physical activity contexts. More recently, he has studied how coaches coach, and how the subsequent motivational climate the coach creates affects the motivation, achievement striving, and persistence of children and young adolescents, as well as on their well and ill-being. He has been on research grants for over 12 million dollars, including being a Primary Investigator on a National Science Foundation grant to investigate research ethics in science, and the Norwegian Coordinator of EuroFIT. He has over 200 publications, including 15 books and 78 book chapters, and has made over 350 presentations of his research worldwide. Professor Roberts has over a 100 invited presentations of his research work, and has also made over 50 invited keynote presentations at International Congresses of Psychology and Sport Psychology. He has several distinguished scholar awards, including the Honour Award of the International Society of Sport Psychology (ISSP; 1997), the Coleman Griffith Scholar Award for 2008 of the Association of Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), and is a named Distinguished Scholar of the North American Society Psychology of Sport Physical Activity (NASPSPA; 1998). Dr Roberts is a Past President of NASPSPA (1981-82), Past President of the European Federation of Sport Psychology (1999-2003), Founding President of Division 12 (Sport Psychology) of the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP: 1994-1998), and past President of AASP (2008-2010). He has also served as the Secretary-General of ISSP for 8 years (1985-1993), and was on the Executive Committee of IAAP (1986-2002), and is currently serving on the Board of Directors of IAAP (2006-2014). He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Kinesiology, a founding Fellow of AASP, and is one of only two sport psychologists who have been elected a Fellow of IAAP. He is serving or has served as Editor, associate editor, or member of the Editorial Boards of most of the major journals in the area, and was Founding Co-Editor of The Sport Psychologist.
Dr Roberts is a certified consultant of AASP, was a consulting sport psychologist for the United States Gymnastic Federation for 10 years (1983-1993), and presently consults with Olympic and other sport organisations as well as with individuals.
Dr. Gloria Balague
She has worked extensively with USA Track & Field, USA Gymnastics and USA Field Hockey. She was at the 92 and 96 Olympics as sport psychologist. She is currently Chair of Sport Psychology services for USA Track and Field. 8 years ago she joined Don Hellison in starting the TPSR Alliance (tpsr-alliance.org) a group aiming at using sport and physical activity as a tool to promote personal and social responsibility in youth.
She is Past-President of Division 47 (Sport and Exercise Psychology) of the APA, and also of Division 12 (Sport Psychology) of the International Association of Applied Psychology.
Professor Howard Hall
Howard began his academic career as a social geographer, gaining a BA (Hons) from the University of Staffordshire. He subsequently trained as a Physical Education teacher at Leeds Carnegie School of Human Movement in the UK before embarking on post-graduate education in the USA. He received an MSc in Sport Psychology from the University of North Texas and a PhD in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and he has spent the last 25 years working in the University sector in the USA and the UK. Howard’s research interests are broadly in the area of achievement motivation and he has published his research in various leading journals in the field of sport and exercise psychology. The principal focus of Howard’s research has been on goal-setting as a motivational tool, how achievement constructs influence motivational processes and more recently he has become interested in how perfectionism influences motivational processes. Howard is currently applying his interests in motivation to understanding children’s health behaviour. He is leading a team of researchers at York St John University who are working in partnership with research teams at other European Universities on a large scale European Union funded project. This research is examining the promotion of adolescent health through an intervention aimed at improving the quality of motivation and participation in physical activity. Throughout his career Howard has served the field of sport and exercise psychology in various capacities. He served as section editor of the International Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology for more than 12 years and he currently sits on the editorial board of The International Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology and the Journal of Sports Sciences. He has also served as vice-president of the International Society of Sport Psychology from 1998-2010 and is currently president of the International Association of Applied Psychology, Division 12 (Sport Psychology) and Chair of Active York.
Dr. Darren Treasure
Darren has held faculty positions at Arizona State University, Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has published over 60 scientific articles, book chapters, and a volume on motivation in sport and exercise with Professor Glyn Roberts. In addition, he has made invited keynote presentations at conferences in France, USA, Canada, Norway, Finland and the United Kingdom. Treasure left full-time academics in 2004 to pursue a career in high performance sport. Both during and following his time in academics, he has provided sport psychology support to Olympic and World Champions and athletes who have competed and won at the highest echelons of collegiate and professional sport. He is experienced working with high profile coaches and has driven cultural change programs with teams and whole organizations. Dr. Treasure currently resides in Portland, Oregon where he consults with Nike in the role of sport psychologist for the Oregon Project.
Professor Joan Duda
Professor Duda is internationally known for her expertise on motivational processes and determinants of adherence and optimal functioning within physical and performance-related activities such as sport, exercise, and dance. She also has an extensive applied and research background in the development of psychological skills in sport and other performance domains. Based on her long-standing research and applied work in this area, Joan has created the theory- and evidence-based Empowering CoachingTM family of training programmes which are being delivered to coaches, parents and teachers in the UK and abroad. She is experienced in developing, implementing and evaluating such theoretically grounded interventions in healthy as well as clinical populations across the lifespan. Her research is marked by an integration across major theoretical frameworks, methodological advancements and incorporates field to lab-based studies employing sophisticated quantitative techniques and qualitative approaches.
