About the program
This program provides you with insight into the relationship between sports and international development and peace work, in other cultures, and in sports as a cultural phenomenon. The study gives you a reflective understanding of aid-related issues and culture, with a particular focus on the opportunities and limitations that sports and physical activity present in this context. You will, among other things, participate in the development of sports aid projects, guide local coaches/leaders in organizing sports activities, and assist teachers in physical education.
Throughout this program, you will gain knowledge of:
- Norwegian aid and sports aid policies
- The relationship between sports and international development and peace work
- Sports in Africa and possibly other continents
- Sports as a cultural phenomenon
Remember to apply as a sports volunteer by February 1.
Internships and volunteering
The internship is largely based on personal efforts and is carried out as voluntary work in a partner country under the auspices of the Norwegian Sports Federation (NIF) or other organizations. The tasks include assisting physical education teachers, guiding local coaches/leaders in organizing sports activities, and administrative work in sports organizations. Additional information
NIF organizes and finances the internship for students wishing to travel through the Sports Peace Corps. If you wish to travel as a sports volunteer through the Sports Peace Corps, the application must be submitted to NIF by February 1.
If you wish to travel as a sports volunteer through other organizations, you must contact the program coordinator at NIH by March 15.
