  • Critically reflect on and discuss colleagues' teaching practices and learning.

Learning methods and activities

The course is scheduled for the spring semester and will encompass diverse and practice-based teaching and learning methods. The central focus is on exploring and developing one's own teaching practices through critical reflection, sharing experiences, and peer mentoring.

The course will be organized as follows:

  • Introduction: Organised through structured working sessions over two days at the beginning of the period. This involves preparation, follow-up work, and further development of the academic content.
  • Individual development work: Between the start and conclusion, students will conduct individual development work related to their own teaching practices, including peer mentoring.
  • Concluding session: This will involve presenting individual development work, critical reflection, and providing feedback on peers' development work.
  • Reflective essay: See assessment/exam.

For this course, students are expected to dedicate a total study effort of at least 60 hours. This includes approximately 12 hours of on-campus teaching, 10 hours of peer mentoring, and 46 hours of self-study, which involves planning, assessment, and documentation of individual development work, including the requirement to conduct a teaching session (see also work requirements).

Work requirements

  • 100% mandatory attendance in the teaching sessions
  • Completed peer mentoring
  • At a minimum, the student must conduct a two-hour teaching session. If the PhD position does not include teaching duties, this must be arranged with the supervisor

The requirements will be assessed as either approved/ not approved. Requirements must be approved to be eligible for assessment.

Assessment/exam

The assessment will be conducted through a reflective essay in which the student is required to document the achieved learning outcomes. The essay should have a minimum length of 2000 words, where the student document their development project.
