Project summary

The Sport Science Physical Activity Innovation and Entrepreneurship Partnership (SPIEP) joins leading Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and non-HEI organizations across Europe to transform the innovation and entrepreneurship component in sport science education. By integrating advanced technological, digital, and innovative problem-solving skills into the sport science curriculum,SPIEP aims to directly address the global challenge of physical inactivity, with a special focus on vulnerable populations. Through a cross-sectoral approach, where the educational sector works with partners from the private, public, and voluntary sectors, to develop cutting-edge teaching and learning methodologies designed to cultivate complex problem-solving skills, digital literacy, and social innovation. Thereby SPIEP aims to equip 500 students with critical multiplier skills to drive meaningful change in health-enhancing physical activity (HEPA) as both intrapreneurs and entrepreneurs.

SPIEP's objectives are aligned with the EU Work Plan for Sport 2021-2024, addressing key priorities such as promoting healthy lifestyles, fostering innovation and digitalization in sport, and supporting the professional development of sport science educators and practitioners.

SPIEP is committed to achieving a wide-reaching impact by:

  1. Enhance the quality and relevance of sport science education in Europe.
  2. Empower sport science students with the skills needed to innovate and lead HEPA initiatives.
  3. Increase awareness and participation in sport and physical activity, particularly among vulnerable populations.

SPIEP is an innovative effort to address the challenges of physical inactivity through education, innovation, and transnational collaboration. By equipping future sport science professionals with the skills and knowledge to lead change, SPIEP aspires to contribute significantly to the improvement of public health outcomes through enhanced participation in sport and physical activity.
