PhD Process

Enrollment in the PhD program is based on the application. 

Internationalization is important to NIH and all PhD candidates should participate in the international cooperation.

NIHSPO (NIH Stipendiat- og postdoktororganisasjon) is a network for doctorate students and postdoctors at NIH.

All candidates enrolled at the doctorate program at NIH will be affiliated with one of the scientific departments. The head of this department and the office manager are your main contact persons for practical issues.

All candidates must report on the progress of their doctoral work in their annual report and complete a midterm evaluation halfway through the PhD program.

An independent piece of scientific research that meets international standards with regard to ethical requirements, academic level and methodology used in the research field.
