Norwegian Research Information Repository (NVA)

The Norwegian research information repository (NVA) collects publications and other research results, making them openly available through a unified national platform. This provides access to results from, and information about, Norwegian research in a single service.

NVA replaces Cristin (Current Research Information System in Norway) and the institutional repository Brage. In NVA, both the registration of results and the institutional repository will be integrated into a single system. Results and projects previously published in Cristin will be transferred to NVA.

Log in / New employee at NIH

Anyone who has access to Feide or has a valid Norwegian person ID can log in and view all that is registrered on their user profile.

Connect to ORCID

The first time you log in, you will be asked to connect your ORCID to your NVA profile. It is highly recommended that everyone does this. ORCID is an international person ID for researchers.

Connect ORCID to your profile

Active employment

To register content and have your content registered with NIH affiliation, you need to be actively employed at an institution that uses the NVA. If you don’t see the “+ New Result” button in the top menu after logging in, it means you don’t have this affiliation in NVA.

Please contact the NVA administrator at NIH to have your employment added.

If you change your job title, transition to emeritus status, or end your employment at NIH, please ensure this is registered in NVA. Contact the NVA Administrator at NIH to update your profile.

No valid person ID

You need a valid Norwegian person ID to get a user in NVA. Without a Norwegian person ID, you unfortunately cannot create a user in NVA.

Please contact the NVA administrator at NIH, who will help you register your research.

Reporting of academic publications to the NVI

NIH is required to report the academic publications that meet the criteria for the Norwegian Scientific Index (NVI) on an annual basis. The library is responsible for this reporting and registers the applicable publications in the NVI categories.

Unfortunately, the library is unable to register results in other categories on your behalf.

For a publication to be reported to the NVI, it must be registered in the NVA and comply with the requirements outlined in the NVI reporting instructions (in Norwegian).

The NIH deadline for submitting scientific publications in the NVI categories: February 15, 2026

The Norwegian Publication Indicator (NPI) serves as a national information service regarding the publishing indicator. Publication channels that are approved at levels 1 or 2, thereby qualifying as academic for reporting purposes, are indexed in the Norwegian register managed by The Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (HK-dir).

Deadline for proposing a new publishing channel to level 1:
November 30, 2025
