Background and experience

Since October 2025, I am professor at the Department of Teacher Education and Outdoor Studies (ILF). In 2023, I was appointed Professor of Sports Science, specialising in pedagogy, at Linnaeus University. I hold a PhD in Education/Pedagogy and wrote my thesis on sports didactics/idrottsdidaktik. My research is grounded in the Nordic context of education and sports policy. I worked at Lund University (1997–2000), Malmö University College (2000–2011), and Linnaeus University (2012–present). Initially, I worked in continuing professional development for teachers, later moving on to teacher training, sports science programmes, and research training. From 2021 to 2025, I chaired the sports science supervisory board at Linnaeus University and represented on the Faculty of Social Sciences' research board. I have also been involved in various teacher training environments, serving as programme council chair for eighteen school subjects and participating in management group work for Linnaeus University's knowledge environment, 'Utbildning i Förändring'

Research

Since completing my doctoral thesis, I have continued to conduct research on sports didactics, and I have deepened my understanding in various ways by examining the concept of health in relation to teaching and participation in the school subject, the function of language in relation to how we understand the subject, and gender aspects of teachers' (and authorities') various didactic/educational choices. Another area of research I am involved in is social entrepreneurship in sport, and how social entrepreneurship can challenge the selective pipeline system of the sports movement.
