Online Application

The Norwegian School of Sport Sciences (NIH) uses an online nomination and application system for exchange students coming to NIH.

Four happy students

Students who have been nominated by their home institution must complete their application for exchange to NIH in the online application service for students, "Søknadsweb". Nominated students will receive an email with password and instructions on how to apply.

  • May 1 - fall semester (August - December)
  • October 1 - spring semester (January - June)

Step 1: Log in

Use the link in the email sent to you to go to the online application service, press “log in without a Norwegian birth number” and log in with your email-address and password (also sent to you in the email confirming the nomination to the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences).

Step 2 : Contact information

On this page you must enter your correct postal address in your home country. Please make sure to enter both postal code/zip code and city. Click on "OK - save" to continue. You will then be directed to the application page. For countries with more than 4 digits postal codes, please write down your full address in the address line and fill out postal code with “1111”

Step 3: My application

On the application page you will see the details of your nomination. To complete the application you must choose/confirm faculty and level (bachelor or master) for your exchange and list the courses you plan to take in a prioritized order.

Choose/confirm faculty and level: The choices available for you as an applicant depends on the exchange agreement you are nominated through. Please note that if you are restricted to choose only one faculty, you may still apply to courses at other faculties.

List of courses: You must choose one of the course packages listed in the application portal for your exchange stay at NIH.

Please read the course descriptions carefully and make sure you fulfill all prerequisites before choosing: Courses offered in English

Step 4: Upload documents

On this page you may upload the relevant documents for your application. Some partner institutions have already uploaded or sent the documents for their nominated students. If not, the student must upload the documents on this page.

Go to the "My documents"-section in the left side menu. All documents should be uploaded under the "Education" section (or under "Other documents").

Relevant documents for exchange students:

  • Learning Agreement (all fields must be filled out and completed)
  • University Transcript of Records, showing previous courses at university level
  • Motivational Letter
  • Photo
  • Translations in English or a Scandinavian language of transcripts (if applicable)

Please note: Exchange students do not have to upload documentation for work experience.

Applications should be completed online well before:

  • 1 May for studies starting in the autumn semester (August - December or August - June)
  • 1 October for studies starting in the spring semester (January - May)

Erasmus students shall upload the Learning Agreement for studies with their online application and the international office will sign the Learning Agreement and return it to you when you have completed your course registration and have been admitted to courses at NIH.
