This project will measure physical and psychological factors of talent identification and development in swimming.
The research will be conducted in three parts with a variety of methods. The first part is a longitudinal study measuring physical swimming performance and psychological factors of young swimmers over 4-5 years. The second part will ask elite athletes about the micro- and macro- structure of swim training they have done over the years, using a online questionnaire. The third part is conducted with interviews with athletes and coaches regarding the factors contributing to the processes of talent identification and development, and compare the cultural differences between Norway and France.
