Hanna Vehmas (Senior Lecturer, Ph.D.) has a background in Sociology (M.Sc. University of Turku) and Sport Sociology (PhD University of Jyväskylä). Since 1999 she has worked as a lecturer and researcher in sport sociology and sport management at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, mainly teaching international students in Sport Management and Health Promotion. Her research interests and activities focus especially on sport participation, the societal role of physical activity and private sport sector. She is also one of the responsible researchers of the Finnish part of the International Ipreschooler Surveillance Study Among Asians and otheRs (IISSAAR): a comparison of screen media use among preschool children in Asia and elsewhere. This international study investigates the screen media use among preschool children in more than 20 countries and is coordinated by the National Institute of Education of the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Currently Dr Vehmas acts as the Secretary General of the European Association for Sociology of Sport (EASS).
