All four students are in their second semester of the Erasmus Mundus Master program called TEOS (Transcultural European Outdoor Studies). There are 16 students from 15 different countries enrolled in this program and they have a lot of experiences from NSSS and the Norwegian society in general.
"One of the best things at NSSS is the variety of sport facilities on campus. You can do pretty much everything here", says Alexander. "In the winter time it is close to the cross country skiing tracks and the alpine resort Tryvann".
Kacey especially loved to go skiing during the winter months and she went skiing almost every single day in the beginning. She also mentioned that all of the students at NSSS are very much into sports and she feels that being active is an important part of the social environment at NSSS.
There are many student groups at NSSS and they arrange and organize trips, events and trainings. The students think this is great but points out that you need to be updated on the facebook pages and most of the information is in Norwegian. The students are taking a Norwegian language class and we were impressed when they pronounced a few Norwegian sentences!
In addition to the nature, they like the cultural part of Norway. When Alexander came to Oslo, he went out to explore the city. He has visited the Literature house and a few museums, and he thinks the cultural offer is very good.
Kacey, Wai Yin and Hans are staying at Kringsjå student apartments, while Alexander stays at Bjølsen student apartments. "Most of the international students live in Kringsjå and it’s easier to get to know someone there", says Alexander. The international office at NSSS therefore recommends all international students to apply for accommodation at Kringsjå.
The students have a good impression of Norway so far and they like to continue to explore the possibilities this country has to offer. All of them seem to enjoy NSSS’ closeness to nature and the city center.
It is not only through TEOS that you can start at NSSS. You can also come to NSSS as an exchange student through one of NSSS' partner institutions.
