Gendered aspects of sports coaching and athlete development
Milla Saarinen has a postdoctor position at the Norwegian Research Centre og Child and Youth Sport located at the Department of Sport and Social Sciences. She works with the resarch project Student athlete learning, psychosocial development, mental health and well-being in secondary school sport classes.
Saarinen took her doctoral degree in Januaru 2023 i psycology at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland where her research focused on exploring the vulnerabilities of female student-athletes in the career construction framework especially focusing on gendered coaching practices.
Her current research interests are youth athlete career development and mental health and gendering of sport. Milla also has a lot of practical work experience working with student-athletes and coaches in the national talent development programs.
