New European Master in Health and Physical Activity

Since the fall of 2006, NSSS-students may choose a new European Master.

| 26.06.2006

The master programme is an integrated program of study between the Rome University of Movement Sciences, The University of Southern Denmark in Odense, Norwegian School of Sport Sciences and The University of Vienna.

In addition, there will be contributions from several other European universities.

European perspective
The course aims to upgrade the graduate in sport or movement sciences to a higher and broader professional profile.

It aims to prepare the students to deal, in a European perspective, with the complexities of the social demands increasingly expressed in the area of physical activity in health, fitness, re-education and rehabilitation.

Limited number of students
The European Master in Health and Physical Activity (Word format) is a two-year long programme consisting of intensive Teaching Modules in the first year and a Specialisation internship in the second year, in addition to Elective Activities and the thesis, leading upon completion to a Master’s Degree.

The first year will take place in Rome, in the Fall-Winter of 2006/07. Alternative internships will then be offered in the Spring-Summer of 2007 by partner universities.

Students proceeding into the second year will be asked to select the age group on which they intend to specialize and this will then be the focus of their internship and final thesis.

There is only room for 3 – 5 students from the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences and they are to be chosen amongst the students from next fall’s Master in Sport Sciences.

Eligible for student loan
Students at the NSSS contending this study can receive financial help from the State Educational Loan fund according to regular standards. In addition, the students will receive an Erasmus scholarship.
