Glyn C. Roberts, Ph.D., distinguished sport psychologist and Olympic sports consultant, is the new president of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), the international professional organization of sport and exercise psychology.

 - My election as president of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology is a capstone to my career in sport psychology. I am very honored and proud to accept a service role in the profession I have found so enjoyable and rewarding for 40 years. It is a pleasure to serve and contribute to the continued development of AASP and sport psychology.” Dr. Roberts said

 Dr. Roberts currently serves as the professional chair of psychology at the Norwegian University of Sport Science in Oslo, Norway. He was a professor of sport psychology in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Illinois for 25 years.

A resident of Oslo, Dr. Roberts is an accomplished researcher with over 200 publications, including 10 books and over 50 book chapters, and has presented his research worldwide.
 
Among his many distinguished scholar awards, he has received the Honour Award of the International Society of Sports Psychology (ISSP) and is a distinguished scholar of North American Society for the Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity (NASPSPA). Dr. Roberts is one of only two sport psychologists to have been elected fellow of the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP).

Dr. Roberts was a consulting sport psychologist for the United States Gymnastic Federation for 10 years and has consulted with Olympic and sport organizations.

Additionally, Dr. Roberts is a past president of NASPSPA, past president of the European Federation of Sport Psychology and founding president of Division 12 (sport psychology) of IAAP.
 
He has also served as the secretary general of ISSP as well as a member of the executive committee of IAAP. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Kinesiology and Physical Education and a founding fellow of AASP. Dr. Roberts is the founding co-editor of The Sport Psychologist and currently serves as associate editor for several major sport psychology journals.
