Using pictures and movieclips from famous sports situations Jordet, Jackson and Rees informed the participants on how stress can affect athelets and some ways to cope with, and/or prevent such stressors.

 Pasqual Marques, Spain

Pasqual Marques meets the "press".

Who are you?

My name is Pasqual Marques, and I’m a Spanish lecturer at a university in the UK. I’m here at the ECSS to lecture about bio-mechanics and the flight stability in ski-jumping.

What other lections do you want to participate in at the conference?

I’m interested in all science about bio-mechanics related to all types of skiing, especially ski-jumping.

What’s your impression of Oslo so far?

I think the city is unique. I especially like the surroundings with the sea, the woods and the mountains. I’m also satisfied with the nice weather. It’s almost like the weather in Spain at the moment.

Testing by the press!

The presscentre-crew has tested different kinds of physiological research devices located at the ECSS-conferance. These are the results:

Øyvind, from The Norwegian School of Sports Science, tested Galileo Training's new workout methods. Representing Galileo Traing, Mr. Cristian Baur from Germany.

The board vibrates at different frequencies to regulate the intensity of your workout. The device can also be used as balance training.

Øyvind: "This was an effective workout. I really felt it in my butt!"

Leif from the presscentre gets a full body analysis! Dag A. Grindheim, from Norway and www.bodyanalyse.no, confirms that the InBody-device is popular at the ECSS-conferance.

The machine is also used by different gyms and hospitals all over the world.

Leif recieved positive results, and this was his reaction:

"Great! The beach season 2009 is now safe!"

Glenn in action! Testing one of HURs many fitness machines at the ECSS- conference.

These machines uses air-pressure intead of normal weights for resistance.

Glenn: "I can feel my muscles growing!"

Lena Karjaluoto from Finland confirms that HUR, health & fitness equipment is a popular stand at the conferance. She is also very satisfied with their coopartation with the ECSS comitee.

Chaos or control in the reception?

Line Støen and Silje Grini in action.

It was about to explode in the Main Foyer Exhibition Thursday, when the press-crew came to the rescue. Too many baguettes had been eaten, and many hungry people didn’t get their lunch. A girl named Silje Grini was in charge, and we wanted to speak with this friendly face.

Silje is a student at the Norwegian School of Sport Science, and work as a volunteer in the reception. She can tell us that the biggest problem so far have been the lack of food. People are friendly and the language-level is very high. Silje can tell us about many difficult names in the registration-part, but everything is going smoothly at the moment.

The friendly ladies in the reception have no experience in this kind of work, and they get many difficult questions about the conference. Unfortunately can’t the reception-girls answer all the questions, but they do a terrific job in our opinion.

They have to be at the conference before everyone else, and they are the last crew leaving every day. Fortunately they got plenty of coffee, juice and chocolate, and we can for shore say that almost everything is under control in the reception. The press-crew whish the reception-girls the best of luck through the conference.
