Financing

Applicants from outside the EU/EEA area must document that they can finance their studies. If you are admitted you must immediately transfer NOK 85 000 to a Norwegian bank account in order to have your visa application processed by the Immigration Authorities. The Norwegian Immigration Authorities requires that you can provide a minimum of NOK 85 000 (apprx. 10 600 euro). This is the minimum amount of money required to cover living expenses  for one academic year  in Norway and should be documented by enclosing a recent bank transcript.

NSSS does not offer any scholarships.

Cost of living

Although there are no school tuition fees in Norway, you have to take into consideration that the cost of living here is relatively high. You will need a minimum of approximately NOK 8 000 per month in order to cover basic expenses. During your first semester, you must be prepared to use a substantial amount of money for setting up your household and for buying suitable clothing for the Norwegian climate.

Students are required however to pay a registration fee of NOK 440 each semester. Exchange students are exepted from paying the semester fee.

Housing
The Foundation for Student Life in Oslo (SiO) is a student welfare organisation that provides a wide range of services to make the student life easier, including student housing.

We recommend you to apply for student housing as soon you get the Letter of Admission, stating that you have been accepted as a student at NSSS.

The nearest Student Housing to NSSS is Kringsjå Student Village, Fjellbirkeland Student Village and Sogn Student Village in that order.

Insurance
Students are strongly advised to insure all valuables (cameras, stereos, personal computers, etc.) against theft in student dormitory halls. Insurance can also be purchased at a reasonable cost once in Norway.
