Department of Cultural and Social Studies
The department’s areas of academic competence are sport sociology, history of sport, philosophy of sport, sport management and to a certain extent physical activity and the disabled.
The Department conducts teaching and research from the social science and humanistic perspective.
This involves an approach where sport is interpreted as an arena and a field for empirical research for the formation and transformation of meaning, identity and values.
The focus is on social and institutional structures, as much as on the individual’s experience and actions.
