PhD programme
The Norwegian School of Sport Sciences has approximately 70 doctoral students.
The Norwegian School of Sport Sciences (NSSS) awarded its first doctoral degree in 1990. Since then close to 100 candidates have completed their doctoral degree at the school.
Educational requirements
To be admitted to the doctoral programme at the NSSS, the applicant must usually hold a master's degree in sports science or equivalent education at this level.
Applicants to the doctoral studies must as a rule have received an overall mark of B or better on their master's degree or equivalent degree.
Funding requirements
A candidate must be able to document full financing to be admitted to the doctoral programme. Potential candiates may apply to the doctoral programme throughout the year. The NSSS funds 32 fellowship positions which are announced on an ongoing basis.
The Committee for Research Education ("KFU") is responsible for decisions concerning admission to the doctoral programme. For full details on admission and contents of the doctoral studies, see the standard regulations.
