Formål

The phenomenon of achievement is focused with its effects on the individual development. In addition, a discrimination of facets and variants is attempted, suggesting the terms success, competition and rivalry as distinctions. Experiences in educating teacher students and on the job trainings strongly emphasize the practical orientation provided by the discriminated connotations. Though almost everybody is familiar with the phenomena represented by the terms, amazing difficulties arise in the attempt to label and translate these ideas into other languages. Yet, the empirical evidence and plausibility confirming the suggested discrimination encourage continuing the effort.
