SurveyXact is a web-based tool for the development, implementation and analysis of surveys that is available to NIH staff and students.

Published Nov. 14, 2023 2:57 PM - Last modified Dec. 20, 2023 10:28 AM

For new surveys starting autumn 2023, Nettskjema should be used instead of SurveyXact. See separate page about Nettskjema.

Login SurveyXact

Employees and students can use the system by logging in via Feide. Use the same username and password as on the NIH web.

New User

If you have not used the system before, you must first create yourself by logging in with the same username and password as on the NIH web. Remember that surveys starting autumn 2023 should as a rule be made using Nettskjema.

User Instructions

On the SurveyXact home page you will find a comprehensive user manual, helpful video guides (especially for new users) and support articles that address "frequently asked questions".

Cost

Use of SurveyXact is initially free for researchers and students at NIH. Costs for sending via SMS must be covered by the individual project.

SurveyXact and GDPR

A research project that uses SurveyXact (email or SMS) must be reported to Sikt.

Personal data in an existing survey can be deleted and data in a survey can be anonymised. Watch a video no. 9 about anonymization in SurveyXact .

Collection of Red and Black Data

NIH has established two-factor identification for investigations where personal data that is in the category of "red" data is to be collected. The two-factor identification applies to the project manager, not to the individual project participant. Projects that will collect/process personal data in the "black" category - i.e. highly sensitive data - cannot use SurveyXact. Collection of highly sensitive data must be done via Nettskjema/TSD.

The project manager is responsible for assessing what kind of data is collected. See classification guide for how data should be categorized. The categorization reflects the risk; how big the damage can be if information goes astray.

How to Create Two-Factor Identification for SurveyXact

Send an e-mail to super user SurveyXact/privacy advisor Kaja Stene and enter your mobile number in SurveyXact (see "Profile" in the upper right-hand corner of the system - press "edit" and then "edit user"). As soon as access has been established, researchers can move their survey to the "Two-factor surveys" area. The move shall not affect data already collected.

It is possible to give other users access to this survey - for example to a master's student for whom the researcher is a supervisor. The Master's student must then have registered their mobile number on their profile.

A researcher who has received two-factor identification must not add all of his research to the area "Research with two-factor".
