The department’s area of academic competence is sport psychology, with activities centered on the disciplines of achievement psychology and health psychology, together with coaching.

Coaching is defined as the sport subject of preparation and guidance based on teacher education and psychological knowledge.
The Department seeks to integrate competence in activities associated with ball games, with relevant sport science knowledge.The Department has a special responsibility for one of NSSS’ priority areas within activities research: coaching with emphasis on ball games.
